Humboldt County is a close, tight knit community in the heart of the redwood forest. Living here I am surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and trees that are larger than life. I enjoy living in such a small town because everywhere you go, you know someone. We also have lots of events to do here such as, the Humboldt County Fair, Auto Expo, Fortuna Rodeo, Arts Alive and my personal favorite, the Apple Harvest Festival which supports our local cider works business.
If I could change one thing about where I live it would be the major stereotype of Humboldt County; everyone who lives here grows marijuana. Humboldt County is a part of what many people call the Emerald Triangle. The Emerald Triangle is a region in Northern California which is named due to it being the largest cannabis-producing region in the Untied States. As a result of this reputation we've been given, Humboldt attracts more tourists coming here for the marijuana instead of attracting tourists to see our local, beautiful sights such as Trinidad State beach, Indian Island, Richardson Grove State Park, the Trees of Mystery, and many more.
